Getting Back on the Market

As COVID restrictions begin to ease and business are reopening, the available job market is starting to pick up as well! In June, the U.S. added 850,000 new jobs - well about the 700,000 that was expected! So, this week I am going to put back on my HR hat and give you my top tips for landing a new role!

  1. Leverage LinkedIn

Get your LinkedIn page in tip top shape for recruiters! This means getting a professional headshot, adding a catchy headline, adding your resumem and customizing your URL. LinkedIn is such a powerful tool that can land your resume on the desk of dozens of recruiters so be sure to utlize it to its fullest potential!

2. Revamp Your Resume

Your resume is the best place for you to stand out and really sell your skills to an employer. When it comes to experience, lead with your strongest asset. You will also want to quantify your experience and performance to show future employers what they can expect from you. Don’t forget to double check for grammar and spelling as well!

3. Create a Profile on Major Job Sites

Along with LinkedIn, be sure to create a profile and upload your resume to other job search engines like Indeed, Monster, and Zip Recruiter. Be sure to select the option to get emails of job opportunities that match your searches - this way you get open positions sent right to your inbox!

4. Prepare for a Virtual Interview

Most interviews are still happening virtually, so make sure you are ready to go! Download any programs 24 hours before your interview, join the meeting 15 minutes early, make sure your camera lens is clean and test your audio settings! Technilogical errors happen but do what you can to minimize them!

5. Follow up!

Make sure to send a follow up email to all interviewers within 24 hours! This shows your interest in the position and will help you stand out against those who don't follow up. Check out this template below!
